China is the world's peony " reservoir ". Unfortunately, many varieties of wild peonies are under threat of extinction. The Klorane Botanical Foundation has joined forces with the Institute of Botany at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in a 3-year program to save several critically endangered species. The aim is to reintroduce them into their natural environment.
