    Oil Control Nettle

Why is Nettle so effective for oily hair?

Oily hair is often the result of an overproduction of oil by your sebaceous glands. The problem begins at the scalp.

Nettle rebalances the scalp’s oil production for a natural " blotting effect " without drying or stripping. Cultivated using traditional methods without the use of phytosanitary products to protect the plants ecosystem (home to 120 living species); nettle was selected for the abundance of natural sebum-regulating active ingredients found in the roots. This active helps to gradually reduce excess sebum production to help keep oily hair cleaner for longer!

A few words from our expert

Over-washing can strip natural oils, making hair oilier. Using Dry Shampoo helps break the cycle, keeping hair fresh and volumised longer.

    Our experts answer your questions

Genetics, hormones and stress all play a part as well as your hair type and external factors.

Coarse or textured hair may still look fresh after a week, while fine hair may be oil soaked in a day.

If your hair greasy, it’s tempting to wash your hair daily but over-washing can strip the hair of its natural oils and stimulate the scalp to produce EVEN MORE sebum to compensate- not the outcome you were looking for we are guessing!

So slow down on those washes and space them out! If you normally wash your hair everyday, it will take time for your scalp to adjust. Try swapping a wash with our Nettle Dry Shampoo. The natural nettle extract helps to purify the scalp and regulate oil production.

The culprit is sebum (basically oil)- or to be precise- an imbalance in the natural production of sebum. Genetics, hormonal changes, or even stress can all affect production.

Each hair follicle is linked to a sebaceous gland, which secretes sebum, a complex mixture of fatty acids, sugars, waxes, and other natural compounds. These form the hair’s hydrolipidic film- essential protection against water evaporation.

So don’t hate too much on sebum as it actually protects and strengthens the hair and keeps it shiny and lustrous.

But when there’s too much of a good thing, your hair looks slick and greasy.

Yes, but it can take some stamina!  Gradually reduce the frequency of washing your hair. If you are washing it every day, start by extending to every second day. Dry shampoo is an essential part of the arsenal! While all dry shampoos will absorb excess oil, the addition of organic nettle in our dry shampoo for oily hair will actually help in your quest to regulate oil production, buying you another day away from the shampoo bottle.

Expert tip- apply dry shampoo before bed so it has max time to absorb excess oil. Then brush or blow dry out the next morning.

    Yes but with conditions!

Do you run out of conditioner faster than shampoo? Not a great sign for saying goodbye grease! Conditioner should be used sparingly on oily hair and only on the ends. If it’s detangling you need, brush your hair well before jumping into the shower as wet hair is much more fragile than dry.
