Dry Shampoo is bad for my hair

& other DRY SHAMPOO MYTHS!

Many people brush off dry shampoo after one bad experience, but all you need is a little know-how! When used properly, it can be a great tool for styling and keeping hair fresh between washes.

Dry Shampoo

MYTH #1: IT DAMAGES YOUR HAIR

From hair loss to dandruff to blocked hair follicles, the internet is awash with questions about whether dry shampoo is damaging your hair.

Dry shampoo in itself is not bad for hair and scalp, but problems can arise when misused- (or overused)! So choose a dry shampoo that actually protects your hair . This is why we added CeramideLIKE to our OG Oat Dry Shampoo. In skincare, ceramides are the unsung heroes - naturally occurring lipids that form the skin barrier, they work tirelessly to retain moisture and keep our skin protected. Well, they don’t stop there! Ceramides aren’t just skin deep; they’re hair deep too!

They create a light protective barrier on our hair’s surface, trapping in moisture and ensuring your hair remains strong, healthy and shiny as ever.

MYTH #2: IT REPLACES REGULAR SHAMPOOING

Unfortunately, using dry shampoo doesn’t mean you don’t have to wash your hair ever again.  It’s a short-term solution when you can’t wash your hair or need to extend time between washes. There are some things dry shampoo can’t remove entirely, like dead cells and certain product build-up that still make it absolutely necessary to wash and cleanse hair thoroughly and regularly.

MYTH #3: IT ALWAYS LEAVES A RESIDUE

If your dry shampoo is leaving a white residue, it means that either it’s been sprayed too close to the roots or it hasn’t been left in the hair long enough before being brushed out!

For best results, apply dry shampoo in sections at least 15 cm away from hair, leave for two minutes, and brush your hair out really well.

If you have applied too much- Don’t panic!  Take your blow-dryer on a low heat setting and use while brushing to remove the excess and further work the dry shampoo into your hair.

Brunette? Go for a tinted formula for an invisible finish on darker hair. Klorane Tinted Dry Shampoos are formulated with mineral pigments to make it easier to blend into darker hair.

MYTH #4: THERE’S NO #CURLYGIRLMETHOD FOR DRY SHAMPOO

Think dry shampoo is not for curly hair? Again, it’s just about using it the curly girl way! Lose the brush and use your fingertips to keep those curls intact. Imagine that you’re literally ‘dry’ shampooing your hair and work product through your roots, like you are washing your hair in the shower.

MYTH #5: IT ONLY ABSORBS OIL

Dry shampoo has a lot more skills than just absorbing oil- it’s a great styling tool. A few even sprays will add grip and volume- especially to freshly washed hair. It can even be used sparingly in the ends to add a beachy, lived in texture. Just use a light hand and be sure to evenly distribute with a brush or fingertips to avoid any residue.
