      The Klorane Botanical Foundation is committed to working with local associations to protect wild peonies, a species that is now threatened. The organic Peony we use in our products comes from cultivated land and does not endanger wild peonies.

      Paeonia lactiflora was introduced to France during the First Empire, when the Emperor of China gave a collection to Empress Josephine.

      Over time, it became largely popular and culminated in a veritable "peony-mania" in the 19th century among painters and collectors.
