Find your routine adapted to your skin and your hair
Baby has arrived, but your pregnancy glow is gone. Like all good things that must come to an end, the lush hair you had during pregnancy is no different. It may even be suddenly falling out and littering your bathroom floor. Don't panic, this is perfectly normal!
What’s causing it? The same hormones that boosted your shine and volume throughout the past 9 months! After childbirth, their levels decrease as the body no longer feels the need to produce them. The result: hair cycles slow down and so-called "reactive" hair loss sets in within three months. There's no need to worry, we've given you a few tips on how to get through it and feel better quickly.
Resume a healthy and balanced diet as soon as possible to allow your body to replenish its supply of essential vitamins and minerals. Lean meat, fatty fish, legumes, vegetables and fruit: give preference to natural sources and, if you need a helping hand, think about food supplements, but seek professional advice before you start.
There is no shortage of hair loss products and care treatments, so target solutions for reactive hair loss, ideally with natural ingredients, such as the products in our Quinine range! Shampoos and serums are very effective for boosting hair growth. Again, make sure they can be used if you are breastfeeding.
A quick trip to the hairdresser will eliminate excess length and give your hair a fresh look. This will not make your hair grow back faster but will instead limit the visual effect of hair loss while you wait for your hair to grow back.
Easier said than done when you’re a new mom! Between lack of sleep and multiple stresses, it's hard to get off your feet, yet taking care of yourself is the best way to help your body get back on track. So let's take a breath and take it easy!
Reactive hair loss should not last more than a few months. In any case, go and see your GP to make sure there is not a more serious hormonal imbalance or deficiency to be treated.
Those who are breastfeeding should have less post-pregnancy hair loss due to the hormone production that breastfeeding causes. But they also need to be more careful about the products they use!
